Would you feel safe if you knew a woman is flying your plane?

She could start thinking about things and be concentrating on her looks and forget to fly the plane. I've never encountered a female pilot on a large aircraft as of yet. When you hear, "This is your captain speaking.." its always a mans voice.|||women cant fly planes. OR drive! its like, a known fact|||I WORK FOR AN AIRLINE AND THERE ALOT OF WOMEN PILOTS. THEY ARE JUST AS QUALIFIED AS THE MEN. GENDER DOESNT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. THIS QUESTION POSES THE SAME POSITION AS DO YOU THINK WOMEN DRIVERS ARE AS GOOD AS MEN DRIVERS. IT DEPENDS ON THE INDIVIDUAL.|||not all girls are like what you said.

you're being stereotypical.

most women knws the line between her career and her vanity, and especially of a pilot.

plus they can just take her makeup accessories away if it was so bad...|||yeah...but a car is different story...jk|||All pilots must go through the same training and pass the same tests both written and professional. their lives are also relying on their skills in the air. They can't just slack off or they die too.|||omg thats the most sexest thing i have ever heard

i would feel more comfortable with a woman polit than a man poilt because women are more mature and more sencible to men.. ur a jack a*ss|||thats a stupid question|||Depends.... i wouldn't trust anyone if it was someone i don't no properly. They wouldn't let someone become a pilot if they cared about there looks during the flight.|||Yes I would. After all, most commercial flights are on auto pilot once in the air. The pilots are really only there for take off, landing, or if something is going wrong once in the air. So the question shouldn't be whether you feel safe with a man or a woman flying but whether you feeler safer with a human or a machine flying.|||Men are better pilots. Hello????? They excel as pilots. If women were so great at it, there would be more. And there are not.

This is to the female that calls herself "Hey There" - You mentioned Amelia Earhart as an example of a female pilot.

BAD EXAMPLE...HAHA. At least for this question it is. Amelia Earhart was the female pilot who ((((((((((GOT LOST AND DISAPPEARED)))))))))) OVER THE PACIFIC OCEAN IN (1937) ATTEMPTING A TRIP AROUND THE WORLD!!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I REST MY CASE!!!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!!|||I would feel fine...|||I have flown many times with a female pilot and have no problems or concerns. Now if that female pilot did not actually have any flying experience other than sitting next to her husband who was a pilot of 8 years, I would be concerned.|||OMG I am a female pilot jerk I got my pilots license at a young age so Ya id feel safe if I were flying the plane I have 2 planes fyi my god sometimes

Women can fly sexist!|||No, you are just stereotyping... They do just fine, Statistics show they can multi-task better than men.|||. I might very well feel safer. You really do not have a clue about women. Have you ever talked to them rather than just read magazines.|||fine if she was qualified|||Yes, I'd feel safe as long as she wasn't over tired or under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. You know??? Just like you hear that those men pilots have done in the past... =)|||to be in the situation of flying a plane, a women pilot has to go through the same courses and training as a male pilot, and considering that most college/university graduates are in fact women, they obviously don't think about how they look all the time and forget to do things so that isn't even a question you should be asking, kind of sexist if you ask me. I would have no problem with a woman flying a plane i was on.|||She'll be fine...sure I would feel safe|||a lot of airlines already have woman captains

they are highly trained and they also have be cleared

by the FAA as well

I wouldn't worry

here are some facts as well

i got this from

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why is the International Society of Women Airline Pilots

called ISA+21,and not ISWAP?

In 1978 when ISA was founded, the original name was the International Social Affiliation of Women Airline Pilots. The founders wanted an acronym that some how symbolized their group and was also used in the aviation community. They chose to use ISA, also an acronym for International Standard Atmosphere, and the appendage of +21, acknowledging the original 21 members. (Used in aviation, ISA+21 would mean that the atmosphere was 21 degrees above standard.)

Over the years, the emphasis of the organization slowly melded into a professional as well as social organization and the members chose to stress that and changed "social" to "society".

When was the first woman airline pilot hired?

The first woman airline pilot was Helen Richey hired by Central Airlines, a United States airline, in 1934. She resigned 10 months later when the all-male pilots' union refused to accept her. Out of piloting work and nearly penniless, she committed suicide January 7, 1947. For more information about female airline pilots and who may be first in other aviation venues, ISA has gathered information worldwide, and has maintained a FIRSTS database.

How many women airline pilots are there? In the US? Other countries?

This number is constantly changing and thankfully growing. Current estimates are approximate: 4000 women airline pilots worldwide, the majority in the United States. There are about 80,000 airline pilots worldwide.

How many of those women are Captains?

What with growing airlines, downsizing airlines, upstarts, and bankruptcies, we can only speculate that the number is around 450 women airline captains worldwide.|||Planes don't have rear view/makeup mirrors so are generally unsuitable for women to fly. The rest is all done by auto pilot now so the only other problem would be parallel parking.|||i would probally feel safer|||How rude!!|||Why not? If she has a piloting license I'm fine. Why shouldn't we be worried that a guy pilot might just start thinking about football or something and forget to fly the plane?|||And you think that men don't think of how they look (models) what their muscles look like.......what makes you think men are better than women?? Besides, if she really really REALLY cared only about her looks and nothing else, why would she persue a career in flying a plane? Chances are, she's not going to be that worried about her looks...|||Well, I'll telle you the real thruth.

The one who says "This is your captain speaking..." is not the pilot. The pilot is that beautiful girl who crawls in the corridor and offers you a lemonade: is it worlwide known, infact, that women can do several things at the same time, while men don't!!!|||I trust the company that finds competent crews. I trust them to find the right person for the job. What has that to do with gender?

I'm sure there are plenty airheads that DON'T get that job.|||yes... a friend of mine is a capt of a 747 that flys to london from sanfrancisco...she has done it for ten years and no problems....she is also the one on the intercom and tells the passengers of interesting points ....something hardly anyone does anymore!!|||I wouldnt have a problem with it if they went to flight school obviosily they want to fly...... a girl that wants to fly isnt gunna be worried about her hair or sumthing|||Yes i would feel safe, because their are hundred's of people on a plane so why would there lives be risked by a dodge pilot. i would feel unsafe if their was a monkey under the wheel thou|||It's a very misogynist remark, asshole. And men would probably be more likely to do something like that.
