How can you buy a plane ticket for a flight that very day?

Can i just go to the airport and buy a plane ticket and go to where i want to go that very same day?

is it more expencive or cheaper? how do i do this? where do i go in the airport?|||The closer to departure time the more expensive it is. Airlines dont release open seats at a discount price, its the walk-ups that pay full fare. First, you can't call the airport, that does nothing for you, they have nothing to do with the airlines reservations themselves. Call the airline you are looking for, or go up to the ticket counter at the airport for which ever airline you are wanting to fly. Just remember not every airline goes to every city.

Travel agents charge you fee's over what the airline will, so that makes it even more expensive.

Another contributing factor is going to be how full the plane is. If the plane is near empty you will still have access to the cheaper fares, but if the plane is full, they will sell you a full fare. Some online websites wont let you book less than 24 hrs before departure. Find the 1-800# to their reservations and call to book or head up to the airport. Just know that paying on the phone or ticket counter you will be charged a ticketing fee, usually $5-$10 on the phone and $15-$20 at the ticket counter.|||Yes you can, but 99 times out of 100 it would be more expensive.

You would have to have an idea of what airline you need to fly though, becuase you dont want to end standing in like 6 different lines.

So if you know you want to fly american and they have direct flights, just go up to a American Airlines counter and buy the ticket.

Be advised of one thing.. people who buy tickets at the last minute often get pulled aside for extra screening at security. I know because I end up doing that alot.|||Depending on where you are, head straight to the ticket counter at the airport. (However, some countries in SE Asia only sell tickets through agents.)

Often you can negotiate a cheeper price, if you're buying up seats that would have gone empty. However, if the flight is full, they'll often make you pay full price.|||In the USA, the most expensive fare you can buy is a same-day fare directly from the airline. One major exception is Southwest Airlines. They charge the same for a full-fare seat regardless of when you buy. However, the earlier you buy, the more reduced-fare seats are still available.

(I think this is true for Frontier also.)

Generally in the US, you get a better price for a 7-day advance purchase and the best price for a 21-day advance purchase.|||It is very expensive if you buy it at the last day. I recommend you contact a travel agent. You can also look online or just show up at the airport.|||you can call the airport and see if they have one available and more than likely youll be able to have them reserve it for you until you can go pay for it.
