So for my tech ed class we r supposed to build mousetrap cars but my teacher said if i could build a PLANE powered by ONE mousetrap, I would get an a+ and the next class off. Can someone give me a design/instructions and a list of building materials?|||I don't see how that is possible. the trap has only a small amount of energy storage, and it big and heavy. You should be able to launch a glider from push from the trap, with the trap remaining on the ground, however.
.|||the spring would launch the glider
you would have to attach a hook that is open enough that when the gliders is at the peak of the arch of the spring that it lets go from the mousetrap
you might try keeping the spring under a bit of tension so it doesnt release all at once

the O is a pully on the bottom to force the wire up to the top of the ramp there should be a pully on top the ramp to let the string move freely
the mousetrap released would pull the wire and pull the plane up the ramp A hook on the plane should release when it is at the top of the ramp
just a straight wire should do
ok i just thought of a mechanism for releasing the plane just like a AIR CRAFT CARRIER..
up the ramp you need some wire being pulled
view from above ramp
the lines are wires that maybe go around the two pullies on either side
O-------------------------x--------O
RRRRRRRRRRRRxRRR
O-------------------------x--------O
the x's are a wire going across the ramp could be an axle from a old toy with wheels this is pulled up by a wire attached to the mousetrap.. so when the mouse trap is set off it pulls the cross wire up the ramp
the glider would have a stick below to make it pull up with the wire the stick should be long enough that it doesn't pull off the wire till it reaches the top of the ramp... but not bent too much like a hook

something like that
the wire would whip the glider up the ramp at the top the wire would go over the pully or stop if thats your design too and the plane would keep going up the ramp and off flying
just a few other ideas you could use curtain rods for the guides and hook a metal wire across them
just make sure both sides of the wire can move at the same speed and no chance of jamming up
email me if you need help
