How old do you have to be to fly alone on a plane without parental consent?

I've only found information about unaccompanied minors, but I want to know how old you have to be to buy a plane ticket and check in without parental consent. I'm assuming 18, but not necessarily. Any information on that?|||It varies from airline to airline, but the top age for the "unaccompanied minor" program is an indication. Foe example, if an airline says their UM program is for children up to age 14, then someone age 15 should be able to fly alone and w/o providing proof of consent.

That doesn't mean flying without the parents knowing AND consenting is a good idea. Doing so would make the person in question a "runaway".|||well i bought a ticket an fly alone without a parent when i was 17 but i had a 18 year old and a 19 year old friends with me, but it wasnt like a package ticket deal with all or us or anything so idk, i think that its 17 or maybe 16. call and airline...|||without consent is 18. otherwise you will need their conesnt and be considered an unaccompanied minor|||To book your own ticket without any sort of parental consent, you have to be 18.
