Is it illegal to bring a laser into a plane?

I'm just wondering if it's illegal to bring a laser into a plane since it's illegal to point a laser at one.

BTW, is it illegal point a laser at a plane cause the laser does something to the plane or does it just distract the pilot?|||At this time, there is no prohibition on laser pointers either carry-on or in checked luggage.

As a matter of fact, I have two in my laptop bag that I carry-on for business, one in a mouse/laser pointer/powerpoint controller combination, and one that is an obvious laser pointer. Both are used for presentations to customers. I have never had an issue with either of them.

If they were indeed prohibited, the TSA would have them on their prohibited items list.|||It distracts the pilots. I dont think that there are any lazer (now at least) that can pack so much power to take a plane out ( but you never know what the Gov't is hiding (or what some pyro made in his basement))|||Lasers are not allowed in carry-on but are allowed on check-in luggages.

That's the rule in the US (FAA). Depends on what country you're departing and arriving in and from.
